A box of balls or a puzzle that we think as ‘Toys’ can take the role of an important learning tool. According to our ancient scriptures and the modern surveys, it has been observed that a child learns most by the age of seven. So, if we take special care of the initial seven years of a child, we can bring wonders in their learning process.
SDIS has adopted a new method to educate the kids of our school, which is the first of its kind in Gandhinagar. This method is known as Under7 Wonder7. This is a new approach to nurture the finest years of a child's life. With this particular method the child can give wings to their imagination. It enables the child to improve various skills like motor, creative imaginative, aesthetic, cognitive, linguistic etc.
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin,
Engaging them in different kinds of meaningful activities of learning.
A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image but to develop students who can create their own image. Imaginative stories and real life example is the most effective way to merge meaning and emotions.
Each child is viewed as infinitely capable, creative and intelligent. It is the job of a teacher to support these qualities and to challenge their minds in appropriate ways. Teachers design and ask age appropriate questions to strike their curiosity on daily basis.
Evaluation is done through both formal and informal ways.
Showing them small experiments to meet their curiosity and scientific temperament.
We acknowledge and appreciate every little effort made by children and incourage students to build confidence and strength for leading them for further learning.
The most rewarding and important type of learning is through experience. “Learning while playing and by doing” is our primary vision for our tiny-tots. Our teachers make them do various activities and small projects to give them a practical experience.
Families in big cities to those living in remote villages in developing countries, spend much time “just playing”. Usually it is implied that play is an indulgence only for the very young ones and nothing much happen
However, we often underestimate children play time,. Through playing they learn to cope with frustrations, to continue to try to improve, to share with others, to give vocal expression to their thoughts and fantasies.
Well, at SDIS Skill Zone is one of its kind concept based activity room for our school students. The room alone has more than 350+ learning activities, just a mere effort to make learning fun for young ones. We strongly believe that playing has a vital role in developing cognitive thinking, motor skills, emotional strength and task with hands.
There are quite of number ways in which play is important for young children: skill development, social development imagination and creativity. Learning occurs in all areas of development as young children play. In our school's skill zone we have five different zones, Smart Zone, Science Zone, Story Zone, Skill Zone, Sense Zone to ignite the curiosity and interest for learning.
